Standardised marking with self-adhesive type plates

The user

produces drop skips as per DIN 30720, roller containers pursuant to DIN 30722 as well as special containers.

Initial situation

To reduce manufacturing costs, embossed and riveted or screwed metal type plates were to be replaced by self-adhesive foil alternatives. The durability of laser or thermal transfer printed labels without any surface protection was quite inadequate in the face of the hard application conditions prevailing: the imprint would simply be abraded by the mechanical influences. Moreover, weathering and UV rays would lead to a fading of the image over time.

To enable a firm anchorage on the rough surface of the container, a weather-resistant adhesive with a high adhesive weight would be necessary, a product that cannot be processed in a laser print system.

Solution from ELTEX

All containers/skips have to be marked with a type plate in accordance with national and international standards, a plate bearing the following information:

Manufacturer, type of container, year of manufacture, factory No., dead weight in kg, permissible total weight in kg, nominal volume in m.

Given an annual quantity of 5,000 units, a thermal transfer printing process with surface protection is the most economic marking method.

By applying the TOP-Protect 2 in 1 principle, all technical data is printed on to the type label and the transparent laminate is then simply folded over and pressed on. The type plate is subsequently applied to the container. Ready! The permanently weathering and abrasion-resistant marking is complete.
